Play – It’s Important!

Research on the brain demonstrates how play is a scaffold for development:

• Children take ownership of new information by playing with it
• Children’s play depends on materials, equipment and role models
• Creativity is also exhibited by “how” children choose to explore
• Play provides a basis for building language
• Play can build children’s self-confidence
• Play is involved in the development of personality
