Point at which sun or star attains highest altitude

Todd Parr

I love love love Todd Parr books, as do the children.  They are so colourful and fun and they always touch on themes that are meaningful and encourage conversation and feelings of all sorts.  The first book I ever discovered of his was Things that make you feel good, Things that make you feel bad.  The book seems to no longer be available, which is a big shame as I have watched numerous three year olds master the art of literacy via that book!  I wish it would be re-printed for more generations to discover its charm.  Nonetheless, there are numerous other enchantingly charming books of his on the market.

The Peace Book alone is a must for any child’s library.  “Peace is making new friends… Peace is keeping the water blue for all the fish… Peace is learning another language.”  And Todd Parr signs off with “Peace is being different, feeling good about yourself, and helping others.  The world is a better place because of YOU!”  He remembers being in grade school and receiving his orange UNICEF box and going door to door collecting money.  He felt good that he was making a difference… A portion of the proceeds of the sale of The Peace Book will will help UNICEF spread its message of peace to the world.

The Feel Good Book is fabulous too. “Taking a bubble bath feels good.  Showing the new kid around feels good… Watching your grandma and grandpa dance feels good!”  The conclusion is that “It feels good to think about all the things that make you FEEL GOOD.”

It’s Okay to Be Different is also great and touches on all sorts of things from “It’s okay to wear glasses” to “it’s okay to have an invisible friend” to “it’s okay to do something nice for yourself”  It also considers a variety of different households that now exist and makes it all Ok in a really relaxed way.
